It was indeed a breath of fresh air. A time of forgetting paperworks and quizzes for majority of the students.

Loud cheers from each units were heard, parade of beauty and wit was showcased on the pageant, as well as friendship and experiences were created. The celebration started not just a competition with a goal of winning but as well as a bond between athletes and participants from varying colleges and campuses.

As the annual celebration had come to an end, the smiles and experiences that were gathered can not be replaced and had been inserted in the jar of memories.

CTE Volleyball team poses as they win against their opponent and seize the moment of camaraderie.

In different interviews conducted by The Smite to the athletes and participants, observed are the game faces that portrays goals of winning and to either defend or fight for the throne. But it was more than that, they all prioritized the experiences and enjoyment they had learned along the way. More like, it was for fun and winning can be liken to an extra prize.

Heartfelt echoes of booming cheers and happy faces had been kept along the way as well as ties of friendship. One can win or lose but representing their respective colleges and campuses had been both an honor and a privilege.

That’s a wrap. This was Intramurals 2019 signing off.

In an exclusive interview with The Smite Online Publication, he exuded his advocacy on education as a tool towards success.

“As a future educator, akong advocacy is more on education jud. Like ang education should never be viewed as a system, but a key, to open up the door of success, I’m not saying nga education is the only way to success, but it is the best way to success” Desquitado said.

Also bagging the Best in Talent award was a dream state for him, he discussed that he is not a good dancer and it took a week for him and his partner to practice.

His dedication to win the title equates to pressure.

“Actually yes, not because ge pressure kos akong peers or sa EC (Educator’s Club), but because somehow I promised the entire CTE nga dad-on nako ang crown sa CTE” he added.

Agot is not a pageant veteran, she admitted that this is her first time joining pageants and took the task as she was appointed to represent College of Nursing (CN) in this annual competition.

“It was my first time joining a pageant, that’s why I didn’t really expect to bag those awards let alone the crown itself. I believe God has a purpose on why I was the one He chose to win and perhaps its to help me shed light to my advocacy” she said.

Her advocacy was tremendously beneficial to the society and its people as it promotes awareness on certain risk and to mitigate its effect.

“My advocacy is disaster awareness and preparedness. Disaster, unlike viruses and diseases, doesn’t choose its victims and so everyone and everything is vulnerable. Having been an emergency volunteer for more than two years now, I’ve had my share of providing service to my fellowmen. We’ve tried to mitigate the damages after calamities by training young people because we believe that these young individuals are the leaders of tomorrow. The Newly Crowned Heirs of CNU

The top candidates during the fun wear competition.

According to some, excellence for us Normalites is rooted on us, something innate. It may be from the field of academe and even on some aspects, beauty and wit for instance and last night was an epitome.

Many have tried but few were chosen, after a rigorous screening from each departments and satellite campuses, their bets and reps dazzled the stage with poise as the anticipated highlight of the weeklong celebration of Intramurals, the search for the next Mr&Ms CNU kicked off last night at the Samuel McClintock Hall.

The night was full of vibrancy as the candidates playfully showcased their funwear with custom-made design headdresses to represent their respective colleges and satellite campuses.

The candidates gave their all as they gracefully stunned the stage with poise and with sensible intelligence as the Top 5 were tested in the Question and Answer portion.

However, Justine Joseph Desquitado from the College of Teacher education and Jade Mikaela Agot were hailed as the newly crowned Mr&Ms CNU 2019.

This year’s search for the deserving one to pass the crown to was tough considering the reigning Ms. CNU was prominently known to represent the nationals for the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC).

A different kind of year is ahead of our new set of king and queen and a whole new perspective and influence that we can expect from them.

Importance of family and having an advocacy, and advancement of technology, to name a few were one of the noted topics tackled in the Q&A portion.

Indeed, normalites proved that underneath the facade, there’s beyond from the aesthetic visage. Beneath it lies a compassionate heart and a sensible mind.
